Better Sundays – ongoing

In 2022, the Broadmead BID team worked with Bristol City Council to commission a series of high-quality markets to be held on Broadmead West one Sunday each month from June to October. Following the success of the pilot, Better Sundays returned in 2023. In 2024, the market is due to operate from April until October.

2024 dates:

  • 7 April – CANCELLED DUE TO STORM KATHLEEN (high winds)
  • 5 May
  • 2 June
  • 7 July
  • 4 August
  • 1 September
  • 6 October

Operated by Bristol-based not-for-profit Better Events, more than 20 local, ethical and sustainable traders are at each event, plus a workshop and entertainment line-up.

Evaluation has shown the market brings in an average of 709 new people to Broadmead per event and adds an increased spend of £2,666. Visitors surveyed in July 2022 said they spent between £0 – £40 at the market on average, and £26 – £55 at shops in Broadmead.
