Bristol Light Festival – February 2024

For the second successive year, Broadmead BID was an Artwork Partner for Bristol Light Festival, which ran from 2-11 February. The objective was to increase footfall to the city centre, including Bristol Shopping Quarter, at a traditionally quiet time of the year, when it gets dark early. It is estimated the festival brought 275,000 visitors to the city centre; Saturday 10 February was the festival’s most visited day on record, with 80,000 visitors mesmerised by the lights.

The artwork Broadmead BID sponsored was Emergence by This is Loop, it was located on The Podium, which Hammerson, who hold the commercialisation rights, let us use free of charge; it was visited by around 33,000 people. Bristol Shopping Quarter also hosted a second artwork, Elysian by Atelier Sisu, sponsored by Cabot Circus and located in Quakers Friars.

This was the fourth edition of the festival, which is now an eagerly anticipated event on the city’s event calendar.
