Broadmead’s iconic balls repainted – May 2024
The concrete balls located on Broadmead West (near Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and The Arcade) need sprucing up regularly. In May, they were repainted, using the same green shade as last year, which was chosen to symbolise our hopes for sustainable shopping and also fitting in nicely with the ethos of Better Sundays, our monthly ethical, local market, which sets up close to the balls on the first weekend of each month from April to October.
The work was carried out by Bagnalls.
While we have tried some different colours in recent years, it was decided to stick with green this time, in part to allow more coats of paint to build up, so it will be less noticeable when they start to become chipped again.
