Cruise ship coach transfers – May to September 2024

On Tuesday 21 May 2024, Broadmead BID booked and funded two coaches to run a shuttle service between the cruise ship mv Amadea, which was docked at Royal Portbury for the day, and Cabot Circus.

The cruise ship, operated by Phoenix Reisen, had between 550 and 600 guests on board, many of whom were keen to explore Bristol. The first coach left Royal Portbury at 9:15am and the second at 9:30am. They ran between the ship and the city centre all day, with a final departure from Cabot Circus at 16:30pm.

We repeated this operation on Tuesday 11 June, when Seabourn Ovation, carrying around 600 guests, docked at Royal Portbury. On this occasion the cruise operators funded an additional two coaches. The first coach came into Bristol at 1o:00am and the final departure from Cabot Circus was at 6:00pm

By funding these shuttle services, we were able to ensure the coaches brought the cruise passengers straight to Bristol Shopping Quarter rather than to drop off points elsewhere in the city.

We anticipate repeating this operation twice more this year, on 6 August (Oceania – Nautica – c650 guests), and 7 October (mv Amadea – 550-600 guests).
