Hanover Court safety working group – from February 2022

Broadmead BID organised and chaired an online meeting on Tuesday 8 February to discuss safety issues arising from the use of Hanover Court, the pedestrianised area between The Horsefair and Bond Street, by delivery riders collecting from nearby cafes and restaurants.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Bristol City Council, Avon & Somerset Police, Mitie (Cabot Circus security), McDonald’s, Just Eat, Deliveroo, and Stuart.

It was agreed that delivery riders riding their motorbikes over the pavement in Hanover Court creates a significant safety issue. It was also agreed that the delivery business model is not going away and that a long-term, practical solution that works for all parties is required but won’t be easy to find.

All attending the meeting agreed to form a working group with a second online meeting scheduled for Tuesday 22 February and a site visit to be arranged for early March.
