Newsletter and competition – January 2022

On 10 January we sent a Bristol Shopping Quarter newsletter to 14,760 subscribers.

The objective was to share news, offers and events, including information about the Blue Monday Wellbeing, Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair taking place in The Galleries on 17 January and much more. It was a packed newsletter with a dozen individual items featuring a wide range of Bristol Shopping Quarter retailers including Dr. Martens, F.Hinds, The New Room, Card Shack, and Klosterhaus.

We included a competition to increase the open and click rates. The prize package included gifts donated by Lush, Rieker, Skechers and The Television and Movie Store. The competition was also promoted on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, with entrants invited to opt in to receive future newsletters and to receive emails from the companies that donated prizes. This will result in new subscribers and a list of contacts that we will be able to pass on to our competition partners.

The competition closed at midday on Monday 17 January. We received 2,802 entries. 60% opted in to receive future emails and many of those also agreed to be contacted by our competition partners. The winner was Kitty Considine and the four runners-up were Lewis Fuller, John Cadwalader, Karen Duffett and Timothy Lord.

A second competition, organised by LoyalFree, was promoted in the newsletter in order to encourage readers to download the app.

All Broadmead BID retailers were invited to submit content, including online deals, good news stories, shout-outs for their teams, and any virtual activities and events they have planned.

Future newsletters will go out on the first Tuesday of each month (in January it is always held back until the second Tuesday)
