SaBA Day – March 2024

Broadmead BID work closely with businesses, Avon and Somerset police and Bristol City Council to address crime and safety. On 13 March, BID Executive Sophie McLaughlin took part in a SaBA Day (Safer Business Action Day), joining officers from Sergeant Sean Underwood’s beat team to visit businesses within the BID area, talking to them about their concerns, encouraging reporting and highlighting the support available through our partnerships.
Within hours of her visits, we raised an issue about street lighting with the relevant team at Bristol City Council, who investigated it promptly and carried out the repair work within the next few days.
SaBA day was also a great opportunity to remind our business community about other services available, such as info-sharing platform Disc, StreetSafe – a police service that allows reporting safety concerns in public places anonymously, and Walk and Talk – a service open to women aged 18+ who wish to share their worries or concerns with officers regarding their safety in the local area.
