Shopmobility – new scooter – February 2024

Broadmead BID is delighted to have sponsored the purchase of a brand new piece of equipment for Bristol Shopmobility, the local charity, based on the ground floor of Cabot Circus’s car park, who provide low cost hire of both powered and manual wheelchairs and mobility scooters, making Bristol Shopping Quarter more accessible for everyone.

The new scooter is a Rascal Mobility VelumiLi, which has a weight capacity of 18 stone. Powered by an extra life lithium battery, it is one of the lightest aluminium travel scooters on the market, compact and easy to put in the boot!

Kayleigh Bourner, manager of Bristol Shopmobility says: “Thanks to Broadmead BID’s ongoing and continued support we now have available for hire a fantastic new lightweight portable scooter. Bristol Shopmobility have been unable to purchase brand new equipment for some time now and, thanks to the BID’s generosity, we now have this welcome addition to our mobility fleet, which is no doubt going to be well used by our service users. We appreciate everything the BID do to help support the work we do and we could not be more grateful that they have made this possible.”

Vivienne Kennedy, who leads the Broadmead BID team, says: “We’re very pleased to have been able to help Bristol Shopmobility upgrade their fleet. They do a fantastic job, offering a really good service to Bristol residents and visitors to the city.”
